It's the End of the Year As We Know It

My good friend Tony was surveying the rooftop at our house to check for holes that rats might have chewed through the wall to get into our attic and ceiling. He works for Tactical Pest Services . It was pretty scary being on the roof. I definitely felt like I could've fell off at any moment. It may seem small, but I enjoy organizing the fridge at the church so I took a picture. Ignore the mayonnaise, it's not for drinking. We had a half-day retreat (sabbath) where some of the campus ministers went up to Eisenhower State Park and meditated over some scripture and worship. I took the time to rest and recharge as the second semester has been a much busier workload compared to the first. Don't be fooled by the notebook, there aren't very many notes in there. I went to Six Flags with some friends and rode the Sidewinder twice. It's the best ratio of (fun + hilariousness) / wait time. Pictured are Andrea and Meg. Amy and Buddy got married at Northeast after our Sunday s...

He is Risen!

My roommate, Jacob (pictured next to me), had his 22nd birthday on March 4th! His momma had some big signage placed in our front yard to scream to our neighbors that we had a birthday boy in our midst! My good friends Emily and Clint (and his brother Clay) leading praise and worship on Sunday morning. (Also featuring Stephen in the back manning the soundboard.) Volunteering at the COVID Vaccine Drive-Thru at Fair Park! I was part of 'observation,' where you made sure people filtered into an orderly line to be monitored for 15 minutes after getting the vaccine to ensure that they're okay to drive again.  Me, Brandon, and Joey took a road trip to NE Oklahoma to check out a camp to use for SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry) this summer. Unfortunately we did not move forwards with this camp, but I took a picture with a stuffed buffalo at a gas station along the way! Me and Kylie got our first vaccination at the same time! After volunteering there for a day and a half (...

One Winter Storm Later...

Welcome back to another installment of pictures with Paul! Where I show you the best (and worst) pictures I took this past month and maybe explain it enough that you won't judge me. Announcement: We are having Showcase '21 on April 3rd starting at 6:30 pm! This year will be totally online and you can access the stream at anyfocus.org/showcase. The show is pay-what-you-can: all donations are welcome and will benefit the training of our student leaders! Put it on your calendars and join us! Deep Dive (large group) at Northeast Church on Friday nights. Kylie talked about the idol of beauty (right after I got my braces to make myself look better 😭). You can watch this sermon and more on our YouTube page by clicking  here ! I met up with Dayo, one of the student leaders at Richland College, to cook some Korean BBQ outside the church. Though, the planning wasn't quite there because the temperature was about 40 degrees and the meat cooked veeeeeeeeeery slowly. Video chatting with...

Time to Switch it Up?

Hey y'all, Still trying to figure out this blog stuff out. I'm not sure what y'all want to see, but maybe just pictures and captions would be engaging! So I'm going to throw out the photos that I took last month with some context for you and hopefully that gives you an insight of what my life is like! For those of you that know me well.. you'll know that this is probably more my style. 😂 We started New Testament class which will last through the semester. The textbook is maybe one of the biggest books I've seen, more like an encyclopedia. But we're currently learning about reading the New Testament through the lens of the culture of the time (by learning about the culture of the time). This is a picture I snapped of Hopdoddy (#notsponsored) at Village On The Parkway. Not that I ate there or anything.. but I saw a movie at the AMC across the street. A lot of people ask me, "Paul, you're still watching movies?" To that I reply, yes! Typically w...

Christmas Time Was Here

Didja miss me?! It feels like it's been forever since I've gotten the chance to update y'all! Personal Updates:  December was a wild month that I can hardly remember! After isolating myself and getting a negative test, I was able to fly home for Christmas for the first time in a few years. (At my previous position with Fossil, I wasn't able to take any vacation days in the month of December.) It was nice to see my family during the holidays — I know that many families were unable to do so this year, so I feel particularly fortunate. It was the first time that Stephanie has been able to meet my parents as well! Given that we've been dating during COVID longer than out of it and also that my parents live in another state, there haven't been many opportunities for them to meet. (It went well.)  Ministry Updates: After cautioning everyone to stay socially distant and safe for after the holidays, our ministers were given the option to opt into going to an optional s...
